Our Vision

Safety, Welfare and Health of all workers in factory premises is paramount to us. Therefore, we are absolutely committed to curtail the imminent injuries, casualties and health hazards at workplace to ultimate level and best of our satisfaction. This will help in catering the productiveness of the industries.

Our Mission

The labour movement started at the end of the eighteenth century in Maharashtra under leadership of two greatest visionaries Late Mahatma Jyotirao Phule and Late Narayan Meghaji Lokhande. Labour legislations being the part of social securities, this department follows the guidelines issued by International Labour Organization (I.L.O.) in form of various conventions from time to time.
In compliance with Factories Act, 1948, we are absolutely committed for implementation of these regulations for the safety, health and welfare of the workers.
Maharashtra being a leader among industrially developed states and having its maximum number of the workers employed in the factories, we are in the process of perpetual reformation of the services provided to citizens. These services are available online with the department portal. This helps to provide various services in a transparent, efficient and time bound manner. Elimination of man to man contact with help of the computerization and data base management has further resulted in better transparency and efficient administration. The department has successfully and delicately initiated improvement in quality of the factory inspection by capacity building of the officers through various training programmes. The quality inspection will ensure significant improvements in the safety, health and welfare of the workers in the factories. The steps towards the quality inspection are initiated as risk based inspection and randomization. The inspections of the factories will help in prevention of incidences, injuries and health hazards. By the critical examinations of the factories, inspections would help to identify and record hazards for further necessary corrective actions. We strongly believe that statutory provisions along with optimization of safety awareness will be instrumental in achievement of our vision. We also believe in the culture of the cultivating the importance of safety among the workers and management. This activity is done by promotions of various training programmes and interaction with safety professionals. The safety and health of the workers in the factories are continuously monitored at micro level with the help of industry professionals. The reports furnished by the professionals are being analysed by the department at various hierarchies. This analysis helps us in review of regulations and policy making for achievement of our goal. We are quite confident of our initiatives in curtailing the imminent injuries, causalities and health hazards for enhanced productivity of Maharashtra State.
